Trawden in Bloom is run by a group of local volunteers. Our aim is to make our parish look attractive.
We plant flowers, take up weeds, litter pick and look for places that can be improved.
It sounds very simple but takes a lot of hard work, especially when it is time to plant winter bulbs or summer bedding.
Of course, all the previous seasons flowers have to be removed, checked for pests and new compost added.
To keep costs down, we try to recycle many of our plants and we produce some of our own compost using composters and well-rotted horse manure.
We are always happy to accept sponsorship, to help pay for some of the flowers and such sponsors can have their names and contact numbers added to flower containers. we are not purchasing any new containers currently, but are happy to include you on a waiting list.
We are able to create memorial flower barrels for loved ones. The barrel can have a plaque attached with relevant information. There are three examples in the Community Centre car park if you would like to check them out.
We meet on Tuesday mornings at 10.00a.m. and usually work for two hours.
If anyone would like to come along and help, we would love to include you in our group.
Please contact us via the Parish Council 'Contact Us' form where your details will be passed onto the group leader who will then contact you direct.
Well - they've only gone and done it AGAIN!
Huge congratulations to the Trawden in Bloom team, who, in October attended the annual prize giving ceremony at Bolton, and came away with another GOLD award! Absolutely amazing, and thoroughly deserved.
They work tirelessly throughout the year, in all weathers, making sure that the planters, whether sponsored or not, are looking their absolute best.
We couldn't do this without the Team, so do please say hello if you're passing, and if you would like to get invovled, please contact the Parish Council Clerk who will pass your details onto the organiser of this amazing team.

A quote from the Project Leader
As you all know it’s been a tough year for everyone including the stoic volunteers of Trawden-in-Bloom who because of Covid19 restrictions have many times had to work individually or at most in small groups keeping the village looking beautiful. Trawden is one of the largest parishes in the area and The Royal Horticultural Society with Britain in Bloom have again rewarded the Bloomers the highest accolade of a Gold Medal. This is the seventh consecutive year that we have won the Gold Medal and it is an incredible achievement. Well done to all the volunteers and their sponsors. Thank you.
There was also a special award for 'In Your Neighbourhood' for the residents of Back Lane, who have all done a little bit, outside their homes, to make a lovely strip of floral delight, and received an award in their own right. Well done!
