There is a Service at St. Mary's, Trawden, every Sunday morning at 9.30am (time subject to review).
On the third Sunday of the month, there is a very informal family service. There is live music and singing, with crafts available for children who attend.
After all of St. Mary's services, tea, coffee and cake/biscuits are available. This is the ideal opportunity to have a chat with others in the congregation, and get to know your new friends.
Every Thursday, Church is open from 10am - 4pm for private prayer and reflection.
The Rector is Reverend Canon Andy Froud, and he can be contacted on 07969 576691, or email andyfroud@gmail.com, should you wish to speak to him, or book a wedding or christening.
The Church wardens are Sheila (07817 053492) or Lisa (07432 259389). They are on hand to answer any other queries that you may have.
Everyone is assured of a warm welcome at St. Mary's.
Trawden Forest Community Centre, Library and Shop
Our wonderful shop needs a few more volunteers – Can you help?
The shop is open every day and our busy well trained team operate like a well oiled machine to service all the lovely customers. If you can spare a couple of hours or so a week to serve in the shop, stack shelves or help the customers navigate round then please do get in touch with them.
The shop is friendly and welcoming and they are patient and careful to operate with self-distancing, lots of cleaning and with all the appropriate safety measures they can muster. The volunteers and customers alike remark how safe and welcome they feel.
They will provide an induction and then provide all the training you need. You won’t have to do any roles that make you feel uncomfortable. You decide when you want to work and as often or as little as you please.
Although we have lots of volunteers we always need more. Some of the new volunteers that joined us when we re-opened are now back at college, university or work and so we have a few gaps to fill.

Trawden Forest Community Centre
The fabulous Trawden Forest Community Centre is run by a Committee of Trustees made up of volunteers from the local community. It is entirely self-funded, covering running costs through user fees supplemented by fundraising.
The Trustees have managed to acquire a lease on the former library building that has now opened as as Community Shop and Library. They were lucky enough to have acquired many books left by the library service, and this is open when the shop is open.
The shop is opening with restricted hours and will open 10:00 am - 6.00pm Monday Friday, 10am - 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Community Shop
The Community Centre Trustees have acquired the old library building on Church Street adjacent to the Community Centre and, in record time, transformed it from a dilapidated unloved space into a fantastic Community Shop and library.
It is staffed completely by volunteers on a 2 hour shift rota. If you would like to volunteer, please call into the shop and speak to someone who would be delighted to help you.
The shop has a filling station to cut down on plastic packaging, eco products, locally sourced meat, cheese, bread, cakes, glass bottled milk and butter. There's a great selection of wines, beers and locally produced spirits too.
The building officially opened on 20th November 2018 and is already proving to be a huge success with people travelling far and wide to visit the shop.
Please do take time to visit the building. The library remains closed, but the reduced shop hours which are Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm; Saturday and Sunday 10am - 4pm.
Don't forget your jars/containers so that you can fill them with your products. There is a great selection of pasta, rice, oats, herbs, spices, flour, sugar, coffee beans, dried fruits, beans, pulses and loose tea. Jars and paper bags are available should you need them.
Sandwiches and pies are also sold in the shop, which has recently achieved its 5 star hygiene rating from Pendle Borough Council.
Trawden Arms Community Pub
Trawden Arms was purchased by the village of Trawden on 29th October 2021, after a fundraising campaign which saw the community raise half a million pounds, selling over 400 shares to save the last village pub. Trawden made national news by bringing the pub into community ownership alongside their village shop, library, post office & community centre, making this a very unique place to live. The pub is now open, every day, and the tenants who run this wonderful pub are Jamie and Sammi-Jo.
This traditional village pub serves delicious homemade food, has a fantastic drinks offer - including local real ales and craft beers, will be hosting a variety of events including Monday quiz night and pizza van; there are also four stunning Bed & Breakfast rooms.
The pub is located in the heart of the village, directly across from the community library and shop, and community centre on Church Street, Trawden.
We are so lucky to have the commitment from the investors, in order to keep this valuable village asset open.

Trawden Show
Trawden Show is organised by Trawden & District Agricultural Society and offers a fabulous day for all the family. The show is held on a 20 acre site on and around the village recreation ground with superb views across the surrounding countryside including Pendle Hill.
It was first held in 1925 to promote agricultural and other rural activities in the area and to reflect typical village life. The Trawden Show enjoys strong support from the agricultural community, with exhibitors travelling from all over the country to take part. Some sections attract over 400 entries. After a break, the Show was reformed in 1988 and came back to huge entries and visitors to the ground.
The Trawden & District Agricultural Society is a non-profit making company that exists solely to promote The Trawden Show. All our members are volunteers – the society does not have any employees.

Meetings
Trawden Show meetings take place on the last Monday of the month at Trawden Forest Community Centre at 8pm. If you are interested in getting involved, even if it's just for a little job, you are more than welcome to attend the meetings. Once you are a fully fledged member of the Committee, you'll be able to vote on the propsals put forward at the meetings.
Annual Duck Race.
The duck race is held at Wycoller Country Park usually on Easter Sunday. There are up to 2000 yellow plastic ducks that are put into the water at the Clam Bridge, and they make their way down the stream to the Ford where the first past the line is the winner.
Ducks are available on the day to sponsor, but make sure you are there early so you can be guaranteed to get a duck.
